mimb team is sewing bags for the international human rights film festival this human world! The bags will be avaliable at the festival selling points from the 30th of November to the 10th of Dezember. By buying the bags you will be automatically supporting the mimb project!

MILCH represents an ethically conscious and sustainable fashion. Both the environmental and social aspects are taken into account in the whole production chain. Not only are natural fabrics from up-cycled clothing used, but all MILCH garments are hand sewn under fair working conditions.

 

 

 

The scarves sewed by the mimb team are made of recycled Shirts, and will be soon available at MILCH homebase at YPPIG ecofashion showroom!

For the occasion, Gurjão developed four different prints to our bags.

Gurjao’s work is characterized by graphic elements that draw on Brazilian art and culture. He is currently an Artist in Residence of quartier21, and presented his label FKWALLYS at the Vienna Fashion Week.

 

 

Part of the mimb team had the opportunity to attend his fashion show, and to see on the runway some of the pieces that Gurjão printed with us during the workshop at Planet 10. It was an amazing experience to all of us!

Five women from different countries (Chechnya, Peru, Nicaragua, Sri Lanka and Hungary), all living in Vienna, gathered to create mimb’s first products.

They all had basic sewing knowledge before. The workshops purpose was to strengthen their skills and prepare the upcoming production. Deepening their knowledge was not just done through sewing on a piece of swatch. The women already created prototypes of what mimb will produce in the near future.

Next to the development of T-shirts for mimb’s first big contract (more coming soon), the women already learned how to draw patterns and turn it into products. They created prototypes of two different kinds of bags, the shopper and the weekender, made of organic cotton provided by ebenberg shop. These bags will be produced on a large scale and get prints in a following workshop conducted by the one and only Brazilian artist Fabio Gurjao. You will find them in ebenberg shop soon!

Es handelt sich dabei um ein Social Business, das Kleidungsstücke herstellt, um Migrantinnen in Wien Arbeit zu fairen Konditionen zu verschaffen. Dabei soll einerseits für andere Designer produziert werden, andererseits eine eigene Modelinie aufgebaut werden. Peter Vandor and Mag. Reinhard Millner selected made IN – made BY to be part of the course “Social Entrepreneurship” of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. During the course, several projects related to the concept of social entrepreneurship were presented. With the aim of discussing areas of improvement, students had the possibility to choose the project they would like to work with. The business plan of made IN – made BY was selected by a group of students that showed interest in contributing to the implementation of our concept. The group is composed by Christoph Bitzner, Isabel Eichinger, Matthias Blazanovic, Alexander Ink and Lena Gansterer. The kick-off meeting with the project managers of made IN – made BY, Cornelia Stocker and Luisa Lobo, was held at HUB, on the 18th of October. It was agreed that the group will focus on the financial plan of the project, funding perspectives and market research.

The Mentoring Circle is running since 2006. It starts in November and runs until October of the following year. It is a cross-company Mentoring Programm for executives of all management levels and entrepreneurship.

The made IN – made BY team will have the possibility to discuss strategies to improve the development of the project with a Mentor, to be selected. A meeting with Gabriele Hahn, the organiser and initiator of the Mentoring Circle, was held at good.bee, where the profile and needs of the team were noticed.
